What would you like to have in this space?
I'd like to see students adding their own content, making connections, interacting, learning and sharing. I'd like to see this space as an open space for experiments, integration and inspiration.
About Me:

Hi, everybody!

I'm Carla Arena, an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) educator, explorer of the potential of technology integration into language learning. I started to dig into the possibilities of tech-applications some years ago and have been going on new cyber-journeys with my students ever since. I've been a teacher at Casa Thomas Jefferson for eight years. I'm passionate about education. If I cannot change the world, at least, I hope to make a difference in my students' lives by taking them into this fantastic journey of learning another language. This online experience is certainly a thrilling one for me as I have the chance to show my learners the possibilities the Internet offers them to enhance their English skills.

I was born in Brasilia, but currently I'm living in Key West, Florida, for two years with my family. When I'm not in the professional spectrum, I'm having fun with my two little boys, Dudu (7) and Caio (5), and my husband. I love to travel, cook, read, take photos, meet people, have fun with friends, listen to music, sing for fun, and invent different kinds of activities against boredom.

Hope to hear lots from you.

I finished my advanced English course at Casa Thomas Jefferson, but I think that I didn't know English. So I hope I learned something now, because I trying to practice to talking and to writing English, more than I practice in School. I know that staying in contact to language every day is important to learn it. How you sad you cannot change the world, but I’m sure it will be difference for a lot of people, that take advantage of your work. I hope I can help someone that know English less than me.

Hi, Carla. Thanks for your comment. So, I have been teaching English since 2003 in an elementary school in Estância Velha (but I live in Novo Hamburgo, 45 km from Porto Alegre). As I went to Vancouver on January I decided that I'd want to teach in an English course in order to work with adults. That's why now I'm working with children in Estância Velha in the morning and I teach adults and teens at Wizard in Novo Hamburgo at night. I know that I have lots of things to learn, so if you can help me... Thanks

How I love working with you, Carlinha! You're always adding something new, always putting an unexpected twist on familiar topics or activities, always building interest and engagement through including graphics, sound, video . . . .

But there's an even more important reason I love working with you: your energy and enthusiasm! You've got that samba spirit!

Um abraço fuerte e beijos na bochecha—
